About Me and Why I Started Lush Sensation
I started this site because, like many readers, I’ve been burned on sex toys before. I’ve bought toys made from materials that weren’t good for me.
I’ve used vibrators that felt like construction equipment. Not to mention, the toys I purchased were expensive, and no refund was available!
After getting disappointed many times, I decided to educate myself. I also wanted to help others new to buying sex toys find the right ones.
I only pick body-safe toys from reputable companies, not the first toy I find in a seedy truck stop store.
I also avoid toys sold on Amazon. While some reputable sellers are on Amazon, that site is filled with toys that are unsafe from unknown sellers.
Therefore, most of the toys I showcase can be found on Lovehoney, Betty’s Toy Box, and other reputable sites. Also, some toys will be sold via the manufacturer’s own website.
I’m not alone. I have a boyfriend, and I’m not ashamed to say that both of us love using and trying out new sex toys.
He helps with the male toys since I don’t have the equipment down there 🙂 Together, we look at the never-ending list of upcoming toys and old favorites.
We’ll help you decide what’s worth it and what’s not.
So, welcome to my site. If you’re reading this, you probably want to get to know me a little more, so now that you do, let’s look at my review process.
What I Look for in a Good Quality Sex Toy
If you’re unsure how I choose my toys, here are some factors I consider.
- Materials used. This is perhaps the most important factor. You’re putting these toys inside of you. The last thing you want is for these toys to be made from body-unsafe materials. That’s why I choose body-safe silicone and other non-porous materials.
- Price. With everything costing an arm, a leg, and a third leg, price is important. Most sex toys don’t come cheap! Which toys provide a good value for the price? Which ones are worth spending a little extra money on? I’m here to answer those questions.
- Battery and battery life. When it comes to vibrating sex toys, how good is the battery life? Is it long enough to make even the slowest orgasmers among us reach the big “O?” Or does it die quickly? Also, how easy is it to charge the toy? Better yet, does the toy use rechargeable or traditional batteries?
- Vibration power. I love a strong vibrator to get me off. Some vibrators get the job done, while others leave you hanging out to dry. Also, how is the vibration? I prefer a rumbly vibration that’s discreet over something loud and screechy!
- Travel capabilities. I love to travel, so a vibrator that isn’t going to go off when I’m going through TSA is a must. Does the toy have a travel lock? Does it come with a storage bag to make travel easier?
- Cleaning. No one wants a nasty sex toy. By principle, I try to avoid porous sex toys that can harbor bacteria and be difficult to clean. But even the non-porous sex toys can have crevices that can be hard to scrub. If I can mist a toy with some cleaner, or run it under the sink for a bit, that’s a bonus.
- Waterproof capabilities. Not all toys are meant for the shower or bath (an electric play toy is a good example!). But so many vibrators have waterproof or water-resistant capabilities. So I look at that and tell you how wet you can get, or how dry you should be.
- Functions. What unique features does this toy offer that make it stand out? It could be Bluetooth connectivity, an ergonomic shape, or it just does its job well.
- Reviews and reputation. What are others saying about this toy? What reputation does the company have? While my opinions are my own, I also like to look at what others are saying. If there are no reviews of a specific toy, are there any about another toy? If there’s nothing at all, then I love being the first in line.
- The store. I only choose from reputable stores. However, some are better than others. For example, some sellers will give you free shipping and use discreet packaging. Other stores may have sales, letting you get your favorite sex toy for cheap. I always try to pick toys from stores that have something good to offer their customers.
- Purpose. When choosing toys, I like to list them by their purpose. Why would someone pick one toy over the other? For instance, the “Best Overall” category is for the crowd-pleasers. These toys will satisfy most budgets and have most of the features one expects. But what about the cheapies? Or what about the luxury goods? What about the toys that think outside of the toy box? I look at those as well.
- The vibes. Finally, what vibes does this toy give me? I’m not talking about vibrations, but the intangible type of vibes. Does this toy resonate with my delicate parts, or do I want more? Is the toy aesthetically pleasing, or is something off with its design? If the vibes are good, then great. But if something feels off about the toy, I’ll try my best to explain it.
All My Opinions Are My Own
I also want to stress that every opinion on this website is mine, or my boyfriend’s. I say this because so many review websites are bought and paid for.
A toy manufacturer sends them the product and a fat payment to say nice things about it, even if it’s not that good.
I guess I’m bad at this business because that’s not my style. I don’t want my readers to buy a dud product.
I feel that, in the long run, I’ll be benefited by my followers who will want to read my posts because I keep it real, not because I’m at the top of the SEO food chain.
There are so many things on the Internet nowadays that are fake. I try not to be one of them.
My Books on Amazon
Oh yeah, I’m an aspiring author on Amazon, writing some exciting fiction that allows me to explore my wild imagination.
Lush Sensation has helped me get a little more adventurous with my writing, so expect some hot books soon.
If you’re a Lush Sensation reader, you’ll be first to know when my books are ready to read. I’m a little self-conscious, so it may be a bit.
But once I’m ready, you can read them, get to know me more, and you’re free to discuss my books with me! I’d love to start my own little book club, or at least receive feedback.
Don’t worry; I can take whatever criticism you give me!
