I frequently link to Lovehoney, and some of my readers have asked me, “Is this site legit?” So today, I wanted to answer that question.
The short version is, yes, it’s a legit site that sells high-quality products. But it may not be the right site for your needs.
Every site has its pros, cons, and controversies.

So, currently, it’s kind of hard to tell who owns what, but the company hasn’t changed that much since its initial inception. It still delivers quality toys at fair prices.
Does Lovehoney Sell Quality Sex Toys?
Lovehoney sells a variety of high-quality sex toys. They sell reputable brands like Fifty Shades of Grey and their own in-house products.
Each product has a section where you can read reviews, and the descriptions give you every detail about the toys. I love transparency.
Most toys work just as promised and are made from body-safe materials such as silicone. If the material is made from something else, you can easily read it on the product page.
Their own line of toys is also good, combining affordability with quality. Their best-rated in-house product is probably their Wand Massager, which has a 4.5-star rating and over 5,000 reviews.
Of course, not every product is going to be a winner.
Some of them may have been a swing and a miss, but the reviews usually speak out, and Lovehoney is good about removing products that didn’t do so well.
What Is The Ordering Process At Lovehoney Like?
The ordering process is similar to most online retailers. You add the products you want to your cart, then check out either as a guest or with an account.

Sex toy shops are one of those places where it’s hard to get a refund due to the nature of the business. However, Lovehoney does have a decent return policy.
The first is their 60-day return policy, where if you change your mind, you can get a return as long as the product is unopened, unused, or unworn.
They also have free postage, which is nice. It never feels like I returned the product if I have to pay to ship it back!
Lovehoney also offers a one-year warranty on its products, with some brands offering two years. Like any warranty, you should read the policy beforehand.
Of course, you may have noticed that the return policy mentions “Unused.” Well, how are you supposed to know if a product will satisfy you if you can’t use it?
No worries. Lovehoney does have a 100-day Money Back Promise. This promise says that if the toy didn’t get you off, you may qualify for a full refund.
It’s a limited policy, as used sex toys aren’t exactly resellable, but it’s a great policy to give new customers peace of mind or for when you want to try a product that may be a little polarizing.
I have never had to return a product; even if the toy wasn’t the best, I usually find a use for it. But these toys can be pricey, so I’m glad there is a policy.

Lovehoney frequently has sales, such as on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. If you spend over $49, you qualify for free shipping. With sex toy shops, it’s pretty easy to meet that minimum.
Lovehoney frequently has clearance sales as well. These sales are usually to get rid of seasonal products or products no longer in production.
Some sites have sales that are pretty boring; I’m talking 10% off.
But Lovehoney has sales up to 70%, so you can get quite a steal. I do love their lingerie myself. However, with clearance sales, half the stuff I want is never in my size.
Lovehoney does have discounts for university students as well, which I love. You’ve just become an adult and are trying to find your way through life.

Another important consideration is how you can pay for your products. I personally hate it when a site only offers credit or debit and doesn’t give you enough options.

I like the variety of payment methods you can use, as it’s easy to buy now and pay it off later through Klarna, PayPal Credit, Pay Later, and other methods.
Customer Experiences and Reviews
As I mentioned, each product has its own reviews, which you can check out if you’re unsure about a specific product or service.
But what about the overall site reviews? For that, we can go to Trustpilot. On Trustpilot, Lovehoney currently has a 4.1 out of 5 star rating.
Positive reviews love the quality of their toys and enjoy how smooth their orders are. One reviewer had a funny quote, saying they were “like hot cocoa on a winter night.”
How many other companies get that comparison? Probably very little, if any at all. This review came from “Burrito MAN.” A burrito and hot cocoa are a weird combination, but I’ll take it.
One review said they got “Terrible aftercare after spending money on items.” And I thought aftercare was important. This review comes from Morticia Adams. Here’s hoping Gomez had a better experience.
Of course, you have to remember that these negative reviews come from a vocal minority of people.
In general, Lovehoney is a pretty reliable company to order from, and they respond to feedback on Trustpilot. Some of it feels a little canned, but other replies did get more personalized.
So yes, it’s overall positive, but with any long-term business, not every customer will be satisfied.

What is the Controversy with Lovehoney?
There haven’t been many controversies with Lovehoney in the media, but when there are, they’re kind of funny.
The controversies mainly concern how provocative their billboard ads can be.
One of them called out Google for excluding their website from its Safe Search and told people to turn it off if they wanted to find the website.
They also got into some hot water after they made an ad mocking Prince Harry. In the prince’s autobiography, he said he got frostbite on his penis.
Lovehoney posted a billboard with a ball gag that said, “Silence is golden, Harry.” I think that’s hilarious myself, but some stuffy suits did not think so.
Overall, I do think they have a pretty clean record for being the business they are.

In general, Lovehoney has had some great prices. Their discounts mean that you can snag some lingerie and decent sex toys for under $20.
Of course, they have more premium products as well if you want to spend a little more.
In general, I recommend shopping around for the best deals, but Lovehoney usually has some great deals that make me want to stay loyal.
Will Lovehoney Spam Me After I Order from Them?
There is nothing worse than buying a product once, and then they just spam you. Like, I get trying to retain customers, but the way some companies do it ends up having the opposite effect.
Like most sites, Lovehoney offers a newsletter you can sign up for to check out the latest products or discounts. I tried it, and it wasn’t too obtrusive.
They also make it simple to unsubscribe if you’re tired of receiving emails from them.
What Are Lovehoney Shipping Costs?
The cost of shipping depends on where you live and how much you order. As I mentioned, if you pay $49, you can get free shipping.
The free shipping you get is their Super Saver, which delivers your packages within 4-6 days. Without the free shipping discount, it charged me $6.99.
They also have an expedited shipping option, which delivers the package in 2-4 days. That one is $9.99 on my end.
Finally, they have next-day shipping, which went for $25.99. That’s definitely pricey, but if you need your toys now, it may be a good option.
Again, the costs can depend on many factors. Personally, I always choose the free Super Saver option whenever I can, as the delivery time isn’t that long.
